Am I Crazy?

March 29, 2007 · 13 Comments

So…you’ve seen my progress in the last few months. The scale hasn’t budged much, and for that I’m a bit sore. However, I’ve consistently lost inches and that is totally awesome. I guess I’m sore about the weight thing because I can actually feel my body getting smaller and smaller. I can feel every single freaking quarter of an inch loss. Maybe I’m crazy, but the losses are kind of freaking me out. No one else I know who is losing weight has mentioned the fact that they can feel their body shrinking so I don’t know if this is normal. But today I went to go get coffee and usually on the way back I avoid looking at the full length mirrors that greet me as I re-enter my building because I really don’t feel like seeing myself. But today…it was like I could totally see a difference in my body. It didn’t look like I had expected it to normally look in those mirrors. So, bully for me. Eleven inches really have made a difference.

Other things I have begun to notice…

  1. My favorite cardigan kept slipping off my shoulders yesterday. I had to fasten the clasp at the top for the first time since I’ve had that thing…which has been for two years at least.
  2. The bra I bought to fit me as I got smaller finally fits. The bra I bought to fit me last month is almost too big, the cups are cavernous. LOL!
  3. My jeans are nearly falling off my hips. I expect them to be too big by summer if I keep up this progress. It sort of sucks though because they are awesome jeans and I got them on sale for 27 bucks as opposed to 45. I don’t want to have to pay full price for a new pair.
  4. A pair of pants that have always been borderline tight, now fit normally.
  5. I’m getting my shape back. Back when I started this, my waist had begun to fillout.

Again, I don’t know if maybe my clothes have just stretched out from wearing them a lot (even though I have washed them all a few times already) or if I’m really seeing a difference. I hope I’m not crazy!

Good for you! :) BTW, I don’t, like, actually feel like “oooh right there, my body shrunk”, but I do feel that it’s shrinking, and I can tell in how I feel, like, if I put my hands on my hips or something.

It’s totally cool when clothes fit differently, isnt it? I have jeans that never really fit me (I had ordered some that I thought were the same size as the ones I had, but apparently “tall” and “long” were sized totally differently), and now I am wearing them. It’s kind of a relief that they now fit, because none of my other jeans do. My nicer pants all need a belt, and I think they are going to not fit at all, soon, which is slightly worrying because I’ve been having trouble finding anything that *does* fit right.

lol. yeah i don’t feel it as it happens, either. :) it’s just that i notice the differences all the time. like yesterday with the cardigan sweater fiasco. usually that sweater is totally comfortable on me, but yesterday…it was just all over the place. cool, but annoying. lol.

maybe as you get smaller you could have your pants tailored until they can’t be tailored anymore? i was thinking of doing that with a few of my fave clothes.

Yeah I noticed it with clothes. Like a shirt that had been a little bit too small and suddenly fit perfectly. (That shirt is too big now. Sigh. I know, that’s good, but I really liked it).

I’m not sure it’s worth it (possible?). They are 3 year old Old Navy pants. But! I just found a pair of Express pants at Value Village for $5. And they fit perfectly. When I was at Express before I started loosing weight, I couldn’t really fit in any of their clothes.

Go Annie! This is so exciting! I can always feel myself shrinking when I lose weight. These days I definitely do because I’ve upped my exercise.

That’s totally awesome, the reason you might not loose weight – is you’re gaining muscle, but soon enough you will see that weight go down.
    Keep Up the good work!!!

You are amazing! In terms of losing weight, I don’t actually trust the weighing scale. I trust the fit of my clothes more. :-)

Good luck – I’m sure you’ll hit your fitness goals in no time.

    Cheers!
