Entries from March 2007
So…you’ve seen my progress in the last few months. The scale hasn’t budged much, and for that I’m a bit sore. However, I’ve consistently lost inches and that is totally awesome. I guess I’m sore about the weight thing because I can actually feel my body getting smaller and smaller. I can feel every single freaking quarter of an inch loss. Maybe I’m crazy, but the losses are kind of freaking me out. No one else I know who is losing weight has mentioned the fact that they can feel their body shrinking so I don’t know if this is normal. But today I went to go get coffee and usually on the way back I avoid looking at the full length mirrors that greet me as I re-enter my building because I really don’t feel like seeing myself. But today…it was like I could totally see a difference in my body. It didn’t look like I had expected it to normally look in those mirrors. So, bully for me. Eleven inches really have made a difference.
Other things I have begun to notice…
- My favorite cardigan kept slipping off my shoulders yesterday. I had to fasten the clasp at the top for the first time since I’ve had that thing…which has been for two years at least.
- The bra I bought to fit me as I got smaller finally fits. The bra I bought to fit me last month is almost too big, the cups are cavernous. LOL!
- My jeans are nearly falling off my hips. I expect them to be too big by summer if I keep up this progress. It sort of sucks though because they are awesome jeans and I got them on sale for 27 bucks as opposed to 45. I don’t want to have to pay full price for a new pair.
- A pair of pants that have always been borderline tight, now fit normally.
- I’m getting my shape back. Back when I started this, my waist had begun to fillout.
Again, I don’t know if maybe my clothes have just stretched out from wearing them a lot (even though I have washed them all a few times already) or if I’m really seeing a difference. I hope I’m not crazy!

So. Today was Official Measurement Day. And my body came out to celebrate. These are small numbers, but to me…every tiny bit lost is a step closer to becoming healthy and realising my goals. I’ll take it!

So, today I learned how to love my food journal.
It’s a lot like anticipating confession. If I don’t do/eat anything that is potentially embarrassing/bad for me, then I won’t have to confess it/feel bad about it. And then I’ll see results.
Exercise Time: 48 mins (I was late for my training session)
Average HR: 152 (rawk!)
Time in Zone: 37 mins (that’s what I like to see)
Calories Burned: 691 (not bad)

So, for the last couple of weeks I’ve been sort of…eh. Haven’t been very good with the diet, haven’t really been up for working hard. The scale didn’t budge, and my measurements didn’t either. And, that’s okay because I didn’t quit. I’m still here, and that’s what counts. I’m just going to assume that this is how it’s going to be and work on making the lag times shorter and shorter.
Today I’m feeling really good. Last night I went to church, saw my favorite clergy person ever (Bishop Benjamin, who is now the Bishop of the Diocese of the West! Yay!!), hung out with the ladies after church, and then got up this morning for a right ass kicking.
Exercise Time: 55 mins
Ave HR: 144
Time in Zone: 38 mins (not bad!)
Calories Burned: 685 (even though it feels like I burned more than that)
Now it’s time for cake!

I’m officially depressed again. Blech. I don’t know why…I just am. My inability to keep a healthy diet for the last few weeks hasn’t helped. And I’ve only been working out twice a week. So…things need to change. And…my usual routine isn’t working for me anymore…so, now I have to step things up. BUT…my feet are killing me…so I guess I have to work through it or something…I dunno.
I got on the scale tonight and IT HASN’T BUDGED. I guess I’m not too surprised, but I’ve still been feeling leaner each week. Whatever.
So…for my sake, tonight’s stats. This time, it’s a two parter! In between strength training and cardio, I had a lull…so…well…here they are.

So, it turns out that not eating a lot is bad for you. For reasons known only to me (hah), I found myself without a lot of food today. I just haven’t really bothered with eating anything for the last few days. On Saturday I pretty much slept the entire day, Sunday I slept half the day. So, I didn’t really eat much. Anyway…it seemed to catch up with me today. I had a tuna salad sandwich for lunch, a small bag of chips, and some ice cream at our office’s monthly birthday celebration. By the time I got to the end of the day and to the gym, I was so wiped out that I really couldn’t do much of anything.
My dear trainer, not taking any of my shit, forced me to eat a power bar before we did some training. Amazingly, after half an energy bar I felt good enough to get through the entire workout, cardio included. And I also had the energy to fix a normal dinner at home.
So. Children. Listen. Eat your meals.

Thursday…wait, that was yesterday! Anyway…Thursday gave a new definition to the words ‘ass kicking!’ My dear trainer really pushed me, and while I didn’t hesitate to complain, it sure felt really, really good. But my legs were so shakey that I could hardly do my cardio! I did twenty minutes on the elliptical and ten on the stair stepper thing…so that’s good. Oh, and my HR monitor worked the entire time. Whew.
Exercise Time: 1 hr 3 mins
Average HR: 134
In Zone: 39 mins
Calories Burned: 752
Now…I’m sore. And the week is over. And I’m SO tired. kaynight

…about today was the fact that i got to go to the gym for my twice weekly ass kicking.
it started out shitty and continued to be shitty until i started working out. actually…it continued being shitty through my workout when my heart rate monitor decided not to work half way through.
at any rate…i had an excellent workout and feel really good even though i’m still cranky. we did strength training for about 25-30 minutes, and then i did the stair stepper thing for 15 and the elliptical for 15. i was feeling up for more but was pissed that my HR monitor wasn’t working (lo and behold, it started working after i started on the elliptical.).
instead of eating, as would my normal reaction have been, i had a decent dinner…salad and chicken and that’s it. all i really want is a big fat pint of ice cream, though.
goodbye stupid jerk of a day!!
